As a present for my aunt and uncle, we renovated their kitchen.
Their home in Pittsburgh is more than 90 years old and full of character. But the kitchen definitely had its fair share of challenges: the small 9’×9’ footprint, the outdated electrical, the radiator in the corner, no dishwasher, the in-swinging door that hindered so much usable space and the lack of counter space.
The goal for this renovation was to make a professional-grade cooking and entertaining space, to maximize storage and to add modern conveniences, like a dishwasher.
We outfitted the kitchen with a full suite of Frigidaire Professional appliances. One thing we realized that while this is a small kitchen, this isn’t a compromise kitchen. We packed it full of storage and workspace and the same full-sized appliances you would find in a larger kitchen without expanding the footprint.
A few of the appliances features our aunt and uncle love are:
The counter-depth design of the French Door Refrigerator saves precious inches in the smaller kitchen by being flush with the cabinetry. There are also numerous organizational solutions with fully adjustable shelves and bins.
Having the Frigidaire Professional Dishwasher in our own home, I was excited to show Betsy and Judd all of its tricks, like the 30-minute cycle, and the adjustable top rack that easily fits larger pots and pans.
The Frigidaire Professional Gas Front Control Freestanding Range has a built-in temperature probe and a PowerPlus™ 2-in-1 burners with a small center burner for simmering and the large griddle burner (comes with the flat top, too!) that makes pancakes a breeze.
Crank up your KITCHEN tip:
Lighting is important everywhere, but perhaps most essential in a kitchen. When you’re working, it’s nice to have it brightly lit, but sometimes, for dinner parties, you may want it dim and moody. I always say every room needs 2-3 light sources.
